Industrial EKG Library Downloads MCMScada README file April 21, 2010 ------------------------------------------------------------------ Installing ------------------------------------------------------------------ MCMScada and MCMConfig are currently the two user-executable installed software products from Artesis. MCMScada spawns MCMNode and MCMMainNode processes, which remain in the Windows icon tray to monitor MCMs when user exits MCMScada. All are installed using an MCMScadaxxxLLFF.exe executable setup file. xxx = version LL = interface ( EN = English ) FF = interface TCP/IP (recommended) Serial (not recommended) Demo (interface not enabled) Detailed installation instructions are contained in the MCMScada User Manual. The Software installs in C:\Artesis, not in the Program Files system under Windows. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Licensing ------------------------------------------------------------------ MCMConfig does not require a license. MCMScada software will run unlicensed, but a license is required to operate an MCM. Uninstalling MCMScada does not affect the licensing. You may uninstall and reinstall an unlimited number of times, and the license information will still be retained. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Uninstalling ------------------------------------------------------------------ During Uninstall, the folder C:\Artesis is not removed. This is by design; the folder C:\Artesis\MCMScada\Database may contain valuable customer data which would be lost if the uninstall procedure removed all files. Essentially, an uninstall/reinstall cycle simply unregisters the executables and support files, replaces them with new ones, and SETS UP A NEW (BLANK) DATABASE. To completely remove MCMScada from a system, including the licensing information, a batch file is available. Contact info@industrialekg.com for instructions. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Versions: ------------------------------------------------------------------ MCMScada was developed using DCOM technology in XP/SP3. It can be successfully run in Vista and Win7, but user intervention is required during installation. In Win7 particularly, Microsoft has taken a dramatically more aggressive approach to default security settings, which can potentially cause problems with MCMScada communications. The most common symptom is that MCMConfig works but the MCMScada "Add Motor" function fails. Windows 7 requires installing with MCMScada443EN.exe or...4431.exe installation file. For Win7/32 or 7/64, Use the File / Properties menu Compatibility tab to set Windows Compatibility Mode to XP/SP3 for the following executables: MCMNode.exe MCMMainNode.exe MCMScada.exe The symptom if you forget to set the Compatibility Mode, is that the Add Motor function in MCMScada will give an error related to communication with the MCM, and the motor will not be added. MCMConfig will operate properly without setting it's Compatibility Mode. In addition, Win7 User Account Control must be turned off in order for the processes MCMNode and MCMMainNode to be accessible from MCMScada: Control Panel / System and Security / Change User Account Control Settings, set to Never Notify (lowest level) MCMScada442EN, or ...443EN should work properly with XP/SP3 or Vista, but User Account Control may have to be disabled in vista also. Version 4.4.3 Confirmed operation on Win7/32 Version 4.4.3.1 Confirmed operation on Win 7/64 Add Motor returns MCM Serial number FFFFFFFFFFF but otherwise functional
